Bournemouth

My thanks to Bournemouth Committee for inviting me to judge their 2014 show, & to my excellent stewards for their professional expertise. I found some exhibits too long in the back, & also short untypical muzzles appeared. All bites & most coats were correct.

PD (4) 1 Powell & Tarrant’s Malmelsa Romancing Romeo at Pawnic, a very promising 10 month old puppy who moves fluidly with reach & drive. Appealing head of good length, dark eyes & correct expression. Excellent lay of shoulder & bend of stifle. BP, PG4; 2 Stammer’s Barleyarch Billbug at Lochpointer, another attractive puppy. Shorter in back, but also shorter in foreface & didn’t move so freely as the first pup. A balanced outline when standing with good rear & front angulation. Good coarse coat; 3 Warrington & Schooling’s Stairfoot Serpentine at Zakova.

JD (3) 1 B Billbug at L; 2 Earp’s Ladyhawke Marmaduke, a young dog who moved well on an easy stride. Well laid shoulders & good rear angulation. A little wide in front & tail carriage a little high; 3 Turnbull’s Spearmark The Woodman.

PGD (4,1a) 1 Dymond’s Friarsbelle Marsh Mellow, this dog won on his free fluid movement & balance & his pleasing masculine head of correct length & shape. Good front & rear angles, topline excellent, tight feet, coarse coat. Strong body with deep chest; 2 Mould & Bird’s Koolwaters Cream Cracker, a slightly longer cast dog with a shorter foreface. Pleasing angulation, a sound mover, holding his topline. Presented in good condition; 3 Jones’ Barleyarch Drummer.

LD (5) 1 Flaherty & Reddyhough’s Isara Kurzhaar Wieser, a balanced dog wtih a beautiful outline when stacked & on the move. Attractive masculine head of good length. Good angulations & an excellent firm slightly sloping toplne. Tight feet & correct coat. Deep chest. He moved soundly & with drive, although a little proud of his tail. RCC; 2 Serpa & Griffiths’ Barleyarch Trumpeter, a well made compact dog with good balance. Excellent body proportions which resulted in sound driving movement. I preferred the head on the first dog, but this dog deserved his placing, but he had a high tail carriage; 3 Cooke & Hammond’s Seasham Jumpin Jack Flash.

OD (2) 1 Rose & Gaffney’s Sh Ch/Dutch Ch Kavacanne Toff At The Top, a beautiful masculine dog shown & presented very well. Excellent shoulder & erar angulations in perfect balance. Short back, firm corrct topline & tailset & carriage. A true GSP head with dark eyes going to correct expression. Tight feet & easy driving powerful gait. CC; 2 Mould, bird & Bird’s Sh Ch Koolwaters Accolade, a balanced, very correct 8 year old dog, not showing his age. Matching front & rear angles. Good topline held on the move. Pleasing head proportions, moving soundly, but not with as much drive as the winner.

PB (6,1) 1 Ferguson’s Arbourtrees Royal Oak at Gallyocean, a 6 month old immature puppy with a lot to like, & just as a baby puppy should be. Good lay of shoulder & bend of stifle. Reluctant to show at first, but moved well to show her balanced proportions in body & head. BPB; 2 Gain & Dixon’s Kavacanne A Vimto for Molkara, a pleasing more mature puppy but not quite so balanced at the moment. I preferred her head to the first pup & she moves soundly. When finished growing she should be a lovely bitch; 3 Desombre’s Barleyarch Springtail at Braneath.

JB (3,1) 1 Gardiner’s Malmelsa Flirty Fleuri, 5th in puppy, she moved much better in this class. Body proportions good with deep chest, well laid shoulders & short back. Tight feet & coat of correct texture. Sound true movement, but carrying a little too much weight; 2 Davies’ Radstorm Conspiracy Theory at Ophrys.

PGB (5,1) 1 Brown’s Barleyarch Tigernut at Graygees, a lovely bitch with good angulations, a short back & balanced proportions. Deep chest, well ribbed back to short loin. Moved with drive on well knuckled feet. Preferred head on 2nd bitch; 2 Field’s Deepthatch Pocona, a longer cast bitch, but still balanced. Shoulder & rear angles good. Moved well holding her topline. I liked her head & dark eyes; 3 Attwood & Turner’s Patterscourt Twill.

LB (8,1) 1 Squire’s Taftazini Wilshee Wyn Too, a beautiful young bitch with an elegant head & dark eyes, feminine, but strong. Excellent lay of shoulder & bend of stifle. Short in back & low. Well muscled with good width of 2nd thigh. (lacking in many exhibits), ribs deep & long, tight feet & coarse coat. Good tailset & carriage, moved with a powerful stride, showing the correct topline to win CC & BOB; 2 Harris’ Barleyarch Peanut, a lovely bitch with balanced flowing lines. Similar make & shape to the winner. Attractive head of correct proportions, front & rear angles good & balance. Short back & firm topline, but his quarters not as strong as the winner. Moved well; 3 Rose & Rose’s Kavacanne Blowin A Gale.

OB (7,1) 1 Harris’ Sh Ch Barleyarch Piper, an easy winner in this class. Elegant but strong bitch who moves soundly & with reach & drive. Classic outline. Shoulders well laid, flowing easily into short back & loin. Body proportions good with deep chest, curved ribs & correct topline. Shown well. RCC; 2 Whitworth’s Freworth Firenze, a pleasing bitch with matching front & rear angles. Strong body with deep chest & short over loin. Very good tight feet. Moved well. Just preferred the head of the first bitch; 3 Cotton’s Winterwell Miss Tified.
