Gundog Breeds Association of Scotland

I was very happy with such a nice size entry of 76 GSPs. As a whole the areas I would like to see improvement in would be the topline & tailset. I saw far too many dogs with a soft back which is hard for a working sporting dog to perform a day’s work. It really isn’t that they are long backed they just don’t carry a hard flat topline. The tailsets & carriage will improve as the toplines improve. The heads were pleasing masculine in dogs & feminine in bitches. I am very happy with the correct amount of underjaw to allow enable carrying of prey. Most had fairly good coming & going. I would like to see more reach & drive overall. The muscle conditioning of these gundogs is beautiful.

VD 1 Montalba Maurice, beautiful head with plenty of underjaw. Smooth transition of neck into shoulders. Clean down & back with nice reach & drive. Substance of bone to match size. A bit better reach & drive than 2 Benbose Bachata, very similar in type to the first place dog, not as long of neck. Again clean down & back; 3 Sh Ch Magregor Pukka.

MPD 1 Zarozinia Beinn An Oir, this was my BP. Beautiful head with a dark rim on the eye which should be a nice dark brown when mature. Nice neck into shoulders. Clean effortless movement. BP; 2 Pitwit Noble Opal, this dog was again a very similar type to 1. Has a bit more skin on throat than I would like to see. Nice easy movement. Longer hock than 1; 3 Winterwell Mr Mulberry.

PD 1 P Noble Opal. JD 1 Barleyarch Firefly, beautiful outline with a strong head & smooth neck into shoulders. Very good on his legs with nice foot timing. RCC; 2 Cushatlaw Indefatigable, very nice head, more of a round than almond shape eye, nice & neck into shoulders, not as much forechest as 1; 3 Benboee Beguiling at Delahawk.

ND 1 C Indefatigable.

PGD 1 Ladyhawke Sultan, nice head & neck into shoulders. Would like to see a bit more almond shape to the eye but very pleasing expression. Beautiful outline, nice amount of bone for size. Nice easy mover; 2 Sonneberg Sealion, heavier headed compared to 1 but with nice expression. A bit straighter in rear without as much drive off the rear as 1.

LD 1 Barleyarch Rolex, very nice head with a pleasant shape eye & expression. Would like to see a higher tail set & less croup. Moved well with a light easy gait; 2 Koolwaters Pacific at Kilrae, beautiful dark almond shape eye. Not as smooth transition of neck into shoulders as the first place dog. Would like to see more muscle in the rear second thigh. Nice amount of bone to size; 3 Cushatlaw Fog On The Tyne.

OD 1 Isara Kurzaar Weiser, beautiful masculine head with a nice eye & earset. Beautiful outline in wonderful condition. Beautiful moving dog but needs to learn his speed & to be comfortable without charging. Beautiful hard topline standing as well as moving. The brain & legs aren’t totally connected yet. CC; 2 Sh Ch Alatglow Um Um Raicher, pleasant headed dog. Not as hard & flat of a topline as 1; 3 Ir Sh Ch Barleyarch Blue Riband at Tomanipoint.

VB 1 Ir Ch Alayglow Dakka, beautiful outline with a pretty feminine head. Nice neck into shoulders with a good topline. Clean movement with good foot timing. BV; 2 Montalba Millie Chillum, a bit more lip & ears than 1. Nice easy movement; 3 Pitwit Playing Games.

MPB 1 Tomanipoint Schumacher, pleasing head. Nice easy moving bitch, would like to see more angle & drive off the rear. PB 1 Orchidstar Yu Can’t Fool Me, pretty head with a nice shape, wonderful expression. Topline is nice a bit of a low tailset. Good bone to size; 2T Schumacher; 3 Orchidstar Yu To Me.

JB 1 Barleyarch Beetle at Tequesta, this bitch had a pleasant head with a nice shape eye. She had a great hard topline & good tailset both standing & moving. Good substance of bone for size; 2 Cushatlaw Illustirous, nice head with a good expression. Not as good of a topline & tailset as 1. Less substance of bone to 1 as well; 3 Cushatlaw Irresistible.

NB 1 Zaroainia Cleopatra Star, she had a nice feminine head & well set ears. Would like to see a harder topline & less length & more strength of hock.

GB 1 C Irresistible, nice shape of head & length of neck. Topline is acceptable. Nice easy moving gait; 2 Goosepoint Elderdown, nice shape head with good length of neck. A softer topline that first place bitch. Nice moving but a bit high in rear for her age. PGB 1 Sonnenberg Seaholly, beautiful head type with a dark almond eye. Had a beautiful topline & tailset. Wish more had this hard topline. Had beautiful reach & drive with great foot timing. RCC; 2 Goosepoint Beluga, nice feminine head. Not the rear or foot timing as 1; 3 Kavacanne Gale Storm.

LB 1 Kavacanne Point The Way Richtig, pleasing head type with a nice colour & shape eye. Very nice outline with easy clean movement; 2 Redic Jetsetter, nice head with wonderful expression. Topline didn’t have the strength as first place bitch with a bit of a lower tailset; 3 Eriau Liberty Star.

OB 1  Ladyhawk California Star, beautiful head with a soft pleasing expression. Very nice hard flat topline with good tailset. Balanced beautiful clean moving bitch with good foot timing. Now looking in the catalogue I see that my first & second place bitch have the same father. CC & BOB; 2 Sh Ch Barleyarch Polkadot, very hard decision between my first & second place bitches. Loved seeing the great toplines & tailsets with beautiful movement in both bitches; 3 Sh Ch/Ir Sh Ch Karlvar Dusky Rose at Tomanipoint.
